7 Popular But Forgotten Young And The Restless Actresses
Many leading ladies have graced our television screens since The Young and the Restless (Y&R) first aired. For over four decades now, the women of Genoa City have been fierce as they’ve surprised us with their strength, endurance, and above all, drama! Nikki Newman has ruled the ladies with her Cinderella story of stripper/prostitute-turned-socialite. Her daughter Victoria has been hot on her heels, proving that females can run a corporate empire just as good as the men. Sharon continues to make terrible and crazy choices, and Chelsea Newman has emerged on the scene as the town’s latest bad girl, gone good. But what about some of the ladies who have left the Y&R never to be heard from again? Below is a list of seven popular, but forgotten Y&R actresses.
7. Kimberlin Brown
This list kicks off with one of the most popular villains of Genoa City (or the soap opera world for that matter). Kimberlin blew into the Y&R in the early ‘90s and immediately engaged in a feud with Lauren Fenmore. Of course, in the beginning the two had a mutual hate-on for each other because of one particular man, but thanks to Sheila’s unbalanced ways it turned ugly and fast. Brown landed on the West Coast in 1992 and began a long stint on the Bold and the Beautiful, Y&R’s sister show. Alas, Kimberlin left the Sheila role in 2006, when a plot twist had the character having plastic surgery to look like Phyllis Summers to disguise herself and wreak more havoc in Lauren’s life. She was shot and killed shortly after this took place and so the dastardly reign of Sheila Carter ended.
6. Diana Barton
Mari Jo Mason first entered the Y&R in 1994 as an old flame of Blade Bladeson, Ashley Abbott’s husband and love interest at the time. In her short tenure with the show, Diana Barton made quite an impact. Mason would eventually move onto relationships with Jack Abbott and even his son Keemo, but it was her obsession with Jack that would lead to Barton’s departure from the show. Mari Jo ended up shooting Victor Newman and then kidnapping his then-attorney, Christine Blair. These shenanigans led to Mason being institutionalized and Mari has been at a ‘facility’ ever since. Wonder if she’s ever run into Patty? They’d have a lot to talk about!
