‘A Girls Aloud reunion? Never say never.’ Nadine Coyle on THAT feud with Cheryl
Nadine is currently starring in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games
Nadine Coyle must wonder if she will ever escape all the dramas surrounding Girls Aloud.
She is currently starring in the world tour of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games and spoke to me to promote the home entertainment release of the shows recent run at the London Palladium.
But the shadow of Cheryl (and her recent outburst against Nadine) looms large. Nadine is often portrayed as the difficult diva who broke the band through her own self-interest, but she protested recently that she was the only one who actually refused to sign the documents dissolving Girls Aloud forever.
I asked if she was tired of constantly being bitten in the ass by ongoing stories of feuds and dramas.
“Not at all! I don’t feel like I’ve been bitten by anything,” she insisted.
“I look back at the band fondly now, not like, ‘Oh I wanna get over that!’”
Cheryl seems to tell a different story, recently calling her bandmate “full of sh**” for saying she had no part in the band’s second split in 2013.
Much as I push, Nadine is a class act and wouldn’t be drawn into personal comments when we spoke, simply insisting that she was “so proud to part of Girls Aloud.”
As for the future, she says she hopes the band “rumbles on forever” and that she would “never say never” for another reunion.
The feisty brunette is currently focussing on her latest gig with Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance.
The Irish dance legend has announced that this will be his farewell tour.
The final outing for the show recently played at the London Palladium for eight weeks, with Nadine as The Goddess Erin. It’s about to embark on a world tour – and Nadine is going with them.
“Oh my God, there’s so many dates, tons and tons!” she cries.
“We’re going everywhere – North America, South America, Australia.”
While the 29-year-old belts out some big numbers in the show she steers well clear of any dancing.
“I’m terrible at it,” she laughs.
“Every single night I see them dancing and it seems like they jump like 9 feet high in the air.
“But I just can’t do it, I’m more of a stiletto kind of girl!”
Nadine says she looks back fondly on Girls Aloud
Nadine also says that her second solo album is on the way.
“There’s definitely a second album coming next year,” she promises.
“I’m just taking time until we get the best album possible.”
She also kept busy by her baby girl Anaiya and strapping partner, American Football star Jason Bell.
The pair split their time between homes in New York and LA, sometimes separately – which Nadine says comes in handy when they both need a bit of space.
“It doesn’t mean you don’t love them any more,” she explains.
“You know, it’s hard, sometimes for adults when you’re busy and you’re working and concentrating on your careers. Sometime you just need a little space.
“It works well for us.”
Frankly, it sounds very civilised to me.
