Craig Charles looks solemn as he leaves Australia following the death of his brother
CRAIG Charles held a solemn expression as he made his way through Brisbane airport on Friday.
The grief-stricken actor was forced to pull out of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2014 following news that his brother had passed away while he was in the jungle.
Craig, 50, looked down to the floor behind a pair of sunglasses as he wheeled his luggage to departures before heading home to his devastated family.
After hearing the news that his older brother, Dean, died of a heart attack aged 52, the soap star told camp mates that he was going to leave.
“I’m out of here guys,” he said.
He hugged his new friends, who also shed tears for his loss, bringing camp morale to an all-time low.
Craig’s teenage daughter took to Twitter in a bid to send a heartwarming message of support to her dad.
“Just wanna give my dad a hug,” Anna-Jo wrote.
An ITV spokesman told OK! Online: “Craig decided to leave the IAC camp earlier today and will be heading back to his family the UK. We send our sincere condolences to Craig and his family.”
Producers informed Craig when he woke up on Thursday morning in Australia, late night UK time.
An insider said to The Sun: “We took the decision not to shock him and wake him in middle of the night and will inform him of the sad news when he wakes up.
“He will be allowed to do exactly what he wishes.”
Our thoughts are with Craig and his family at this difficult time.
