Ellen DeGeneres' boob joke defamation lawsuit 'thrown out by judge'
Last summer, Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show was slapped with a lawsuit after the host made a boob joke – but a judge dismissed the case on Thursday.
The American TV favourite, 59, made a quip about real estate agent Titi Pierce’s name during one of her shows which aired last February.
Titi later filed a lawsuit claiming the mispronunciation (it should have been pronounced ‘TeeTee’) of her name had resulted in emotional distress, embarrassment and anger.
The show aired the real estate agent’s signs during the ‘What’s Wrong With These Ads… and These Signs’ segment after a fan sent in the pictures.
Ellen then referred to her as “Titty Pierce” in front of her audience members.
However, a judge has now tossed the case out, breaking down the English language for the woman in the process.
According to court documents, obtained by TMZ, the judge said: “The letter ‘i’ in the English language can be pronounced in several ways.
“While Titi chooses to pronounce her name with ‘e,’ there is nothing demonstrably false in pronouncing it with ‘i’ as DeGeneres did.”
Titi’s lawsuit stated: “Prior to defendant’s misdeeds, Ms. Pierce has been called only by her name ‘Titi,’ which, as grammar dictates, is pronounced ‘TEE TEE.’”
It also claimed her mobile phone number was shown on screen, leading to “ridiculing and harassing phone calls and voice mail messages” when she was out of town at a family funeral.
The real estate agent also claimed nobody had ever called her ‘Titty’ in “her 35 years of life”.
