Jack White’s Third Man Records and Third Man Books have announced a new collaborative project with the Defenders of the Water School in Standing Rock that will both publish activist students’ work as well as raise funds for the North Dakota school.

The Third Man Books site will spotlight the work of both students and volunteers at the Mní Wičhóni Nakíčižiŋ Owáyawa school, giving those affected by the Dakota Access Pipeline protests at Standing Rock a venue to share their experiences.

The Third Man Books site also posted a gallery featuring some of the students who would contribute to the page.

“This public forum will allow the students’ voices to be heard the world over,” White’s publishing arm said in a statement. “Third Man Books is humbled to have the opportunity to display their inspiring work and assist in spreading public awareness of the ongoing struggle at Standing Rock. This is a situation that should not be viewed in isolation — this is a situation that affects us all. Water is life.”

Additionally, Third Man Records are offering an exclusive Defenders of the Water School at Standing Rock tee shirt, designed in collaboration by the school and Third Man’s Jessie Yohn, with proceeds from the shirt going directly towards Mní Wičhóni Nakíčižiŋ Owáyawa and its program at the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ Camp community in South Dakota.

On Friday, dozens of artists – including members of bands like Green Day, Radiohead, Queen, Pink Floyd and Guns N’ Roses – signed an open letter to President Barack Obama urging him “to deny the easement now, revoke the permits, remove the DAPL construction workers, and order a full environmental impact statement in formal consultation with impacted tribal governments. Put an end to the violence.”
