Katy Perry finally confirms Taylor Swift feud and shares her side of the story on pair's bitter fall out
After years of subtle hints, Katy Perry has finally confirmed her long-running feud with fellow pop star Taylor Swift.
The Roar star, 32, addressed the Bad Blood between them on James Corden’s Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special on Monday night, sharing her side of the story behind their bitter fall out.
Taylor previously said she had fallen out with another artist who she described as a “straight-up enemy” that tried to “sabotage an entire tour”.
The Love Story singer was reportedly angry that Katy apparently stole three of her dancers from her 2012 Red tour to her for her own tour.
Speaking to Corden about their feud, Katy said: “It’s about backing dancers. It’s so crazy! OK, so there are three backing dancers that went on tour with her tour, right?
“And they asked me before they went on tour if they could go, and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course. I’m not on a record cycle, and get the work, and she’s great and all that.
“But I will be on a record cycle in about a year, so be sure to put a 30-day contingency in your contract so you can get out if you want to join me when I say I’m going back on.'”
She continued: “So that year came up, right? And I texted all of them -because I’m very close with them – and I said, ‘Look, just FYI: I’m about to start, I want to put the word out there.’ And they said, ‘All right, we’re going to talk to management about it.’ And they did. And they got fired.”
Katy added that she tried to talk about the situation to Taylor, but she refused to listen.
“She wouldn’t speak to me. I do the right thing anytime that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shut-down and then she writes a song about me and I’m like, ‘OK, cool, cool, cool. That’s how you wanna deal with it?’.”
Confirming that her new track Swish Swish is indeed about Taylor, she told Corden that she now wanted their feud to be over.
“But, what I wanna say is that I’m ready for that B.S. to be done.
“Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something and there’s going to be a reaction. And trust me daddy, there’s going to be a reaction. It’s all about karma.”
She added: “I think personally that women together, not divided, and like none of this petty s**t. Women together will heal the world.”
