Kiddie Heaven! Idina Menzel, the voice of Frozen, announces huge UK stadium tour
Idina Menzel singing in New York on New Year's Eve
Back in the day kids might have screamed for The Beatles, Take That or One Direction (pick your decade).
These days the younger ones are more likely to go nuts for a Disney singer.
Of course, Idina Menzel has had a hugely successful career on Broadway and television but she is best known as the voice of Elsa in the Disney juggernaut Frozen – and the singer of THAT song.
You’ve heard Let It Go in the cinema, on the radio, on the telly and on repeat thousands of times blaring out from every toddler’s stereo…
Now you can hear Idina Menzel sing it live when she hits our shores later this year for her biggest ever tour of the UK and Ireland.
The six-date tour kicks off in Dublin on June 20 and wraps up at the SSE Arena Wembley on June 27.
And while many will doubtless be desperate to hear her belt out one particular song, Menzel can also draw on an impressive back catalogue from her many starring roles on stage and four studio albums.
Although Menzel became a worldwide star in 2013 with the release of Frozen, the New Yorker first hit the headlines in the Broadway production of Rent, for which she received a Tony nomination in 1996.
She also originated the role of the not-so-wicked witch Elphaba in Wicked and became heavily associated with the showstopping song Defying Gravity.
The show also finally landed her that Tony in 2004.
But it was Menzel’s debut in 2010 as Rachel Barry’s birth mother Shelby Corcoran on Glee that thrust her into the mainstream.
This was followed by the now iconic role of Elsa in Frozen and another showstopping belter, this one even bigger than the last.
Not only did it win the Best Song Oscar in 2014, Let It Go was one of the biggest singles of the year around the world.
Which almost compensated for being introduced as ‘Adele Dazeem’ by John Travolta at the Oscars.
