Kit Harington and Rose Leslie cuddle up on red carpet as Game of Thrones cast turn out for season premiere
The Game of Thrones cast turned out for the season premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening, days ahead of the highly-anticipated TV premiere on Sunday.
The likes of Gwendoline Christie, Maisie Williams, Ian Glen, Rose Leslie, Amanda Peet, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and more made their mark on the red carpet at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in the summer sun.
Kit, who was all smiles as he posed with girlfriend Rose on the carpet, cut a handsome figure in a black shirt and black suit, while his co-star Maisie (Arya Stark) lit up the carpet in a stunning green slinky dress.
Gwendoline, who plays Brienne of Tarth, also dazzled in a floor-skimming silver gown that featured prettty beaded details around the hem and neckline.
Speaking ahead of the premiere, the cast gave a glimpse into what fans can expect in the upcoming season.
Kit told the Hollywood Reporter: “It’s incredibly fast. It’s a different TV show, really. I read it and couldn’t really believe what I was reading, since we’ve set the bar for slow-paced TV over the years, with characters not meeting when you think they’re going to meet.
“It was almost frustratingly slow. Now, everything’s changed. Everything ramps up.”
Meanwhile, the hit show is expected to be absent from the list of Emmy Award nominations to be announced today following its record-breaking haul last year.
The show, based on George RR Martin’s novels, became the most-awarded narrative show in Emmy history in 2016 after winning 38 prizes.
But this year it is not expected to get one nomination for the September 17 ceremony because the air dates of its episodes fall outside of the Emmys’ range.
Nominations for the 69th awards will be announced at the Wolf Theatre in Los Angeles from 4.30pm UK time, and will be streamed live on emmys.com.
Veep’s Anna Chlumsky and S.W.A.T. actor Shemar Moore will present the nominations for the annual TV award show.
The seventh series of Game Of Thrones premieres on Sunday, lying outside of the May 31 cut- of f for a chance of an award.
