SPOILER: Handbags at dawn! Phil Mitchell and Nick Cotton come to blows in EastEnders
Phil Mitchell and Nick Cotton come to blows in EastEnders this week
Nick, known as Nasty Nick because of the way he treats his God-fearing, long-suffering mother Dot, has been hiding out in the square.
But it was only a matter of time before someone discovered him in his ‘ma’s’ house and unfortunately for him it was arch-rival Phil who opened the door.
The dastardly soap character gets itchy feet after hiding away and steps out of Dot’s house for a stroll – much to the displeasure of Yvonne Cotton.
The troublesome man is spotted by Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), who quickly informs the square’s hard-man Phil.
The criminal is caught outside when he goes out for a walk
It was just weeks ago Nick’s mother Dot paid tribute to her son as she scattered what she was lead to believe were his ashes.
The grandmother was told her son had died eight months before and made the square mourn his death alongside her.
Charlie Cotton – Nick’s son and Dot’s grandson – helped her scatter the remains beneath a tree outside her house in the make-believe village.
But, in the Halloween special, Nick returned and fans of the soap have been wondering about the circumstances surrounding his character ever since.
Nick has come back from the dead, or so it seems to his poor mother Dot Cotton
John Altman, who plays Nasty Nick, released a statement when it was confirmed he was to return to the soap.
It read: “After a five-year break I’m very pleased and much looking forward to returning to EastEnders.
“With the promise of some hard hitting and gritty storylines I’m sure the residents of Albert Square will be none too pleased to see Nick Cotton back on the streets of Walford.”
It remains to be seen what chaos Nick will cause but no doubt Dot will suffer in the end.
