Tyrese Gibson threatens to QUIT Fast and the Furious franchise if Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is involved
Tyrese Gibson has threatened to quit the Fast and the Furious franchise over his ongoing feud with co-star Dwayne Johnson.
On Wednesday the actor took to Instagram to issue an emotional ultimatum to his co-star, telling “loyal fans and loved ones from OUR Fast universe” that he won’t appear in Fast 9 if Johnson is involved.
“I’m sorry to announce that if [Dwayne] is in Fast 9, there will no more Roman [Pearce]. You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours,” Gibson captioned a selfie of him, Johnson, and Vin Diesel.
Gibson is currently in a legal battle with his ex-wife over custody of their daughter.
This latest rant comes after Gibson criticised Johnson on Instagram in October when Universal Pictures announced the ninth Fast installment was being pushed back a year to accommodate a spin-off around Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters.
Gibson joined the Fast franchise with 2 Fast 2 Furious in 2003, with Johnson coming on board in 2011’s Fast Five.
Alongside a picture of the orginal cast, he shared: “Diversity, love, multi ethnic worldwide multi generational, United Nations, One Race, Fast Family…… Until Dwayne showed up I guess this whole time he had a problem cause he wasn’t the ONLY ONE on the movie poster.
“I guess dreams do come true congratulations to @hhgarcia41 and @therock you guys are just amazing you really broke up the #FastFamily I tried to warn you guys… You thought I was hating… I was simply fighting to keep the family together what makes us great is when you see us all TOGETHER we don’t fly solo…..
“#MyLastPost today… I got 3 years of venting on this clown – They offered but YOU didn’t have to agree with a solo #HobbsMovie #OriginalFastFamily we salute you and stand on your shoulders #VinDisel #PaulWalker #RobCohen #RomanTej were offered a spin off we TURNED IT DOWN!”
Last year, Dwayne caused a stir when he lashed out at his unnamed male co-stars in a rant on Instagram.
“This is my final week of shooting Fast & Furious 8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one.
“An incredible hard working crew. Universal Studios Entertainment has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em.
“My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t.
“The ones that don’t are too chicken s**t to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es.”
